Welcome to the Banning Behavior unit!

A bright red stop sign in the countryside.
Laws and rules are an important part of society. Without them, there would be chaos. They aren¡¯t perfect, though, and they¡¯re constantly being changed. How are laws made, and what are some difficult decisions involved in making them? And how can we change rules that are unfair? This is what we¡¯ll be reading and thinking about in this unit.
In this unit, you will:
  • Learn about the creation and removal of laws
  • Think about the purpose of laws and whether they are helpful
  • Learn about events affected or caused by laws
By:
  • Watching videos to help you understand what good readers do
  • Reading and answering questions about literary and informational texts
  • Learning new academic words
In order to answer the essential question: Do we need laws to regulate what we do?
